MDF Plaque

 I'm tentatively thinking about the possibility of maybe being able to do a craft fair over the summer and with this in mind have bought some MDF shapes to have a try of making some home decor items.  I bought the Dreamees set of 28 MDF shapes which gives a good variety of different shapes and sized to have a try of.

I chose the small oval for my first piece so it wasn't too overwhelming.  I covered the shape using a patterned paper and used some guilding flakes round the edge.  I stamped out a butterly and made some flowers to decorate round the plaque.  The inspiration words were from a paper pad.  I added some bakers twine to make it into a kind of hanging decoration.

I don't think it turned out too bad for a first attempt, I'll hopefully have some more shapes to share soon when I've had the chance to try some of the others from the pack.

Kingfisher

I was particularly happy with this card - even if I do say so myself ;p  I treated myself to one Sheena Douglass' new die and stamp sets a couple of weeks ago, this one is the 'Wild Rose' set.

I started the card by masking off the centre and used the small leaf stamp which comes in Clarity's Kingfisher stamp set.  I used Spun Sugar disress ink and stamped round the edge of the card using both first and second generation ink to create a kind of frame.  I stamped the kingfisher in the middle and coloured him in using promarkers.

The flowers and branch are from Sheenas set and are coloured using distress inks - Evergreen Bough on the branch and Spun Sugar for the flowers.  I love how these flowers look and can see myself getting a lot of use out of them.  I was wondering if I could make the kingfisher look a bit like a bird of paradise by colouring him in different colours so I might try and experiment with that soon.

Pink Daisies

The top half of this card is made using a lattice embossing folder and is coloured round the edge using Spun Sugar distress ink.  For the bottom half I stamped the swirl stamp from Indigo Blu's 'Wreathed in Smiles' stamp set using the same coloured ink.

I made the flowers using Spellbinders D'Lites Create a Flower Aster Daisy die set.  I coloured them in a few different shades of pink and added them in a diagonal across the card.  I added a sentiment in the top corner and a few PVA pearls.

New Home

I embossed the background of this card using Cuttlebug's 'Birds and Swirls' embossing folder and coloured round the edge using Tumbled Glass distress ink.  I die cut the largest frame from Sue Wilson's 'Dainty Rectagle' die set and used the house stamp from this month's 'Creative Stamping' magazine in the centre.  I added a ribbon across the centre of the card and a sentiment in the bottom corner.

Pair of Owls

A couple of cards using the owl stamp which came with this month's 'Creative Stamping' magazine;

For the first one I paper pieced the owl  by stamping it out onto a few different papers, cutting out the different parts and sticking it together.  I stood him on top of the book pile stamp which is also in the set.  I thought this card would be nice for someone who has just passed their exams.

For the second card I stamped the owl in the centre of a Spellbinders Eyelet Circle die cut and coloured him using promarkers.  I created the background using a few different patterned papers.  I added some flowers round the outside of the circle which are made using the Tonic Petal Pairs punches.  The oak leaves are die cut from Spellbinders Fancy Folliage 2 and are coloured using Vintage Photo distress ink.  I finished off by adding some Cosmic Shimmer PVA pears in the eyelet parts of the circle and on the top and bottom of the card.

Floral Birthday

To make this card I cut the largest frame from Spellbinders Majestic Labels 25 die set three times and used the middle bits of the frame to create the shaped card.  I stuck two pieces together to create the card blank and used the last piece with additional die cutting to create the easel topper.

I cut out a panel using Spellbinders Labels 18 and stamped a birthday sentiment in the middle.  I added a few pearls round the middle of the panel.  I used Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms dies to make the flowers decorating the panel with the leaves coming from the same set.

I used a Spellbinders fancy tag die cut to create the 'stopper' for the easel card, stamping another sentiment in the middle of the tag.

New Job

A couple of cards using the free stamp set from Creative Stamping magazine;

The first one is a clean, monochrome look.  The typewriter comes from the free stamp set.  I simply layered it on black and white card and added a border across the middle using a Dovecraft alphabet stamp set.  I added some pearls into the corners using Cosmic Shimmer PVA pearls in black.

The second one is more of a vintage look.  I stamped the typewriter and coloured the card using VIntage Photo distress ink.  I layered it onto pages from an old book and added some bakers twine with a button decoration.

Black and White and Red All Over

Another card using the lovely 'Cattus Librum' stamp from Stampendous.  This one is a bit more clean and simple than the distressed look.
I used a piece of patterned paper for the background of the card, adding a black border across the centre.  I decorated round the image using some flowers made from Tonic Petal Pairs punches and added a sentiment off one side.

I Want To Ride My Bicycle

This card was a bit of an experiment but I was really pleased with how it turned out.  I took a topper from a Hunkydory card kit, I think this one comes from the 'Vintage Journey' kit.  I drew around the topper twice onto white card and cut it out to make a shaped card blank.  I then simply stuck the topper onto one side and used a piece of patterned card stock to cover the bottom panel.

I used one of the sentiments to create a 'stopper' for the easel card and added a few punched flowers using Tonic's Petal Pairs punches to add a bit of colour and embellishment.

Cattus Librum

I love this stamp but haven't used it for quite a while.  It's called 'Cattus Librum' and is from Stampendous.
I made the background of this card using Vintage Photo distress ink, stamping over the top of it using a script stamp from Creative Expressions 'Timeless Journey' stamp set in the same colour ink.  I punched out a border using an EK Sucess punch and added it towards the bottom of the card.

I used Stampendous Encrusted Jewel bronze embossing powders to decorate the corners of the cat image which I think adds a nice vintage feel to the card.  I finished off by adding a few pearls using Cosmic Shimmer PVA pearls in gold.
